Dead Sea Salt

The Dead Sea lies in the Jordan Rift Valley. Over 1,300 feet below sea level, it is the lowest elevation of land in the world. Not only is it low, it is also lifeless. The high salt concentration makes it impossible for fishes to live in it. It is 8.6 times saltier than the ocean. The Dead Sea has no life and no outlet. It takes but it does not give. This reminded me of this solemn truth: "To live for self is to perish. Covetousness, the desire of benefit for self's sake, cuts the soul off from life. It is the spirit of Satan to get, to draw to self. It is the spirit of Christ to give, to sacrifice self for the good of others. 'And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.’” - Christ Object Lessons p.259
Let us not live to take. Let us live to give! Only then can we have Life!
